ELK provides welding and fabrication services built for live industrial environments — where access is tight, time is limited, and quality needs to be proven, not assumed. We support power stations and process plants with repairs, modifications, and replacement works that integrate cleanly with your outage plan, permit systems, and QA expectations.

Our focus is straightforward: safe execution, controlled quality, and documentation that makes handover painless.

What we deliver

We support both planned and reactive scopes across:

  • Pipework and spools (carbon steel, low alloy, stainless as required)
  • Steam, condensate, blowdown, drains and vents
  • Boiler and auxiliary plant interfaces (where in scope)
  • Platforms, access steel, supports and brackets
  • Ductwork, hoppers, chutes and liners
  • Tanks, bunds, sumps and platework
  • Guards, handrails and safety modifications
  • Skid frames and equipment bases
  • On-site repairs and workshop fabrication

Typical jobs (the things that actually land on an outage list)

  • Leaking spools and corroded small-bore lines (drains/vents)
  • Modifications for new instruments, sample points, or isolation arrangements
  • Fabrication and replacement of supports (including correcting load paths and vibration issues)
  • Duct repairs: cracking, erosion, thermal movement damage, or flange issues
  • Platework replacement in high-wear areas (chutes, transitions, hoppers)
  • Access improvements driven by maintainability and inspection requirements

How we control quality

We work in a way that fits engineering teams who need repeatable outcomes and clean close-out.

Engineering-led execution

  • Scope walkdowns and buildable method development
  • Fit-up control, joint prep checks, and sensible sequencing
  • Clear acceptance criteria and inspection hold points

Welding management

  • WPS / welder qualification alignment where required
  • Consumable control and basic traceability on request
  • Heat input and distortion control on platework and spools

Inspection & verification

  • NDT coordination when needed (MT/PT/UT/RT depending on risk and code)
  • Dimensional checks, leak tightness checks, and reinstatement verification
  • Punch-list control through to sign-off

Fabrication options: workshop or site

We can fabricate off-site to reduce outage time, then install during your window — or fabricate in situ where geometry and tie-ins demand it.

  • Workshop fabrication: spools, brackets, access steel, platework assemblies
  • Site fabrication: tie-ins, repairs, restricted access work, hot/cold works management

Documentation and handover

Depending on your site standards, we provide close-out packs that can include:

  • Workpacks / RAMS and permits interface notes
  • Weld logs and weld maps (where applicable)
  • NDT reports collated to scope
  • As-built mark-ups and change notes
  • Completion certificates and defect close-out records
